Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and the Philadelphia Union partnered to create a high-energy spot showcasing their multi-year collaboration. The goal was to highlight PHL as Philly’s gateway to the world while celebrating the growing love for soccer in the city. The concept? A soccer ball that seemingly moves on its own, traveling seamlessly from the airport to Subaru Park—symbolizing the connection between travel, sport, and the city’s electric energy.

With only 12 hours to shoot in a working airport and a snow-filled soccer field, efficiency was key. Our team crafted a fast-paced visual style, requiring creative camera work and practical effects. We designed two custom ball-spinning rigs: one handheld rig powered by a drill for controlled spins and another with bearings for smooth, natural movement along the ground. These rigs allowed for dynamic, in-camera effects that brought the ball to life, reducing the need for heavy post-production.

The final spot delivers a seamless, high-energy journey that captures the spirit of both PHL and the Philadelphia Union. By blending practical effects with sharp cinematography, the production team created a visually striking piece that resonates with fans and travelers alike. The campaign strengthens PHL’s brand as an essential part of the city’s sports culture while celebrating the growing passion for soccer in Philadelphia.
